Attic Ventilation via Ridge Vents, Attic Fans, Gable Vents, and Soffit Vents
Attic ventilation is important for two major reasons. During the summer months, excess heat builds up in the attic during the day resulting in high energy costs for cooling your home. Also, moisture created within the home may move into the homes attic space if ceiling vapor barriers are not used properly. If this moisture is not ventilated from the attic it can condense and cause insulation and construction materials to deteriorate. Thus, temperature and moisture control are the major reasons for providing attic ventilation. Also see Roofing Options
