High Definition Television, High Resolution Televisions with High Picture Quality
HDTV or High Definition Television is more than a kind of television. This type of television uses the capabilities of high definition picture and sound to create a unique viewing experience. High definition is a term that describes the characteristic of the video quality of the screen of the television or the type of programming than can be accessed by an HDTV. The video quality is rated as high definition based on the resolution of the television. HDTVs are categorized as 1080i, 1080p, and 720p. This is the number of lines of pixels are aligned from the top of the screen to the bottom - the higher the number, the better the resolution. High Definition TVs are available as LCD televisions, Plasma screen televisions, Rear-projection televisions, or High Definition Projectors. Each type of HD television has its benefits, but in order to be truly high definition, each type must receive high definition signal either from an HD cable antenna, HD satellite provider, HD ready DVD or Blueray player, or from a High Definition capable gaming system. Without the high resolution input, the television will still be just a digital television. Use our resources to find more information about High Definition Televisions and HD technology for your home theater experience.
