With endless colors available and even patterns to mimic natural wood siding the choices are attractive. One must consider that the color is not permanent and some fading will occur. This means that when repairs are necessary the repair area will not match the remainder of the house. If the original color is even available when it come time to repair your homes vinyl siding. Vinyl siding is fairly easy to install and the installation of vinyl siding can be performed by a vinyl siding installer at a low cost compared to other exterior siding products. It is true that vinyl siding will last a very long time with minimal maintenance and that it is not in itself susceptible to insect invasion but there are hidden concerns that can easily be investigated and confirmed with a few simple searches. It is also very important to verify that installing vinyl siding over original or existing clapboard on older or historic homes will not affect the authentic historic value of your home, in most cases it will. You should also be aware that Vinyl is made from a PVC (polyvinyl chloride) plastic resin that is known to cause cancer in humans. Although vinyl may be safe while it is on your home, many scientists believe that manufacturing and disposing vinyl is hazardous to our health and to the environment.
